Simon Hughes & Annette Brooke Talking to Mr. Carney at Canford Gardens

On Tuesday 19th April, Annette Brooke welcomed Liberal Democrat Party President Simon Hughes at 'Canford Gardens' Elderly Persons Dwellings on Canford Heath and to meet Andrei Bazanov, whom Simon helped to acquire Leave to Remain in the UK.

Residents of the EPDs on Knowleton Road, Canford Heath renamed their residence 'Canford Gardens' after they decided to build a flower garden with raised beds, benches and paths across their patch of land. Now, a space that was formerly wasted space is a bright, well cared for and welcoming garden for residents to work in, relax in and enjoy with visitors and guests.

Thanking the residents for inviting him, Simon Hughes said:

"It is wonderful to see this home grown idea come to life at Canford Gardens. This is a innovative idea to give residents something to do, something to enjoy and pleasant to experience throughout the year."

Commenting on Annette Brooke's re-election campaign he said:

"I know many of you already know Annette Brooke as your MP since 2001 and I am sure you'll agree with me that she has been a very active and hardworking representative for Mid Dorset. She has worked tirelessly for the constituency and for all residents here, young and old."

Annette said: "It is truly inspiring to see what a transformation has taken place in the garden. I am so pleased to see such a good use of space for everyone's enjoyment.

"It has been a great pleasure and privilege being your MP for the past four years, and I hope to continue to represent you after 5 May."

"I particularly want to thank Simon for his help with Andrei's case. This is a good news story for the community. Andrei will continue to be a great asset to this area, and Britain as a whole."

If you are a resident of the constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
