Presenting a postcard from Hillbourne First and Nursery School to 10 Downing Street

Following Hillbourne First School and nursery's successful "Fair Trade Week", Annette Brooke MP has presented a postcard from pupils at the school directly to Tony Blair's house in 10 Downing Street.

Annette Brooke said:

Presenting Postcard to 10 Downing Street

Hillbourne School pupils highlight the importance of Fair Trade by writing to the Prime Minister

"I'm delighted to present the postcard to the Prime Minister on behalf of all children at the school, to remind him that people young and old feel very strongly about Fair Trade issues. He should take a lead in promoting trade justice in developing countries.

"The Fair Trade market at the school was an excellent initiative and taught the children so much about development and trade issues, about where goods and food come from and about how they are produced. I'm sure that the children will think much more about where food comes from in future."

Children at the first school wrote a postcard to the Prime Minister telling him of their "Fair Trade Week", and all the things they had learned about 'Fair Trade' food and products. Their letter urged the Prime Minister to do more to support Fair Trade, and the colourful picture on the back of the postcard really emphasised the cause.

Annette Brooke MP attended the Fair Trade Market on Friday 3 February, and met many of the children who were involved in organising the event, equally, she met the children who wrote and designed the postcard.

If you are a resident of the constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
