Parents should not be hit twice by CSA blunders - Brooke

Annette Brooke MP spoke out in Parliament yesterday to stand up for parents in her constituency losing out twice through the failings of the former Child Support Agency (CSA).

Annette Brooke, the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Children, Young People and Families, said:

"I have heard of several shocking cases from my constituents where parents owed considerable sums by a former partner are now being pursued for payments due to the child changing residence.

"Despite the fact that the former partner did not contribute what was needed at the time, the other parent is now having money deducted directly from their salary.

"The Government must act now to prevent further damage being inflicted on these families. It is not right that parents who have struggled on their own should now be facing financial crisis due to CSA blunders."

If you are a resident of the constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
