Voting across Poole shows an increase in support for the Liberal Democrats
Local Liberal Democrats received a wave of support in the local elections in Poole yesterday. Overall, there were 3 gains for the Liberal Democrats in the Mid Dorset and North Poole Constituency.
Voters returned Mike Brooke and Graham Mason in Broadstone and elected a third Lib Dem Councillor, Dan Martin, who knocked out Conservative incumbent David Newell.
In Merley and Bearwood, the excellent new team of David Brown, Daphne Long and Peter Maiden swept to victory and took the number of seats held by Liberal Democrats in the ward from 1 to 3. They paid tribute to the hard work over the years of previous Liberal Democrat Councillor Jane James, who stood down for health reasons this time round.
Liberal Democrat Councillors have now been elected to all possible seats in the wards of Alderney, Broadstone, Canford Heath East, Canford Heath West, Merley & Bearwood. The hard work all year round by North Poole Councillors with Annette Brooke MP seems to have satisfied the voters, with every single Councillor increasing their majority substantially.
