Annette Brooke MP welcomes passing of policy motion on eco towns

Annette Brooke, MP for Mid Dorset & North Poole today welcomed the passing of a policy motion at the Liberal Democrat Conference, which opposes the development of new settlements in the green belt.

Annette opposes Westminster imposed development on the Green Belt in her constituency but supports local communities determining the need for housing for local young people in appropriate locations.

Annette said of the current proposals in the South West Regional Spatial Strategy:

'Once the Green Belt is destroyed, it is gone forever - we cannot have this Central Government interference destroying our villages, our natural environment, creating an urban sprawl from Christchurch to Wareham and adding to our traffic congestion.'
