It was today discovered that Wilts & Dorset will continue to terminate their number three service from Poole to Wimborne on Oakley Straight until Canford Bridge reopens in both directions, leaving Merley residents stranded without a bus to Wimborne.
Elderly residents in particular have been distressed by Wilts & Dorset's refusal to reinstate the bus, as many are unable to reach their local shops and services.
A spokesman from Wilts & Dorset said, "The complete route to Wimborne will be reinstated when all of the bridge works are completed."
However, Annette Brooke MP has called for compromise from Wilts & Dorset.
"I have written a very strongly worded letter to their managing director. They have an obligation to provide a service. There may be delays at rush hour, but for the rest of the time the traffic is fairly free flowing. The main concern should be for my constituents in Merley, many of whom are elderly and stranded."
Annette Brooke has promised to "continue to press Wilts & Dorset to return this vital service to the people of Merley and to press Poole Borough Council to provide for an interim solution." She said, "if absolutely necessary, Poole Borough Council should extend the Shamrock contract."
