Since the re-opening of the Canford Bridge Wilts and Dorset have refused to lay on a bus service between Wimborne and Merley. This has left Merley residents without a direct link to WImborne.
Annette Brooke, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole has written to the Traffic Commissioner complaining about Wilts and Dorset's action. An angry Mrs Brooke said: "My residents are caught up in a row between wilts and Dorset and Poole Borough Council which has left them without a service since October 24th. I have asked for evidence of when Wilts and Dorset gave notice to de-register from their obligations. I have pressed Poole Borough Council to put on an alternative service as it is unacceptable that residents should have to suffer."
A temporary service is to be introduced by Shamrock from December 1st. "Whilst I welcome this move", said Mrs Brooke, " it is only a partial service running 4 times a day and it begs the question why Poole Council failed to extend the Shamrock contract at the time of the re-opening of the Bridge. Residents have been badly let down by both the Council and Wilts and Dorset."
Footnote: the Shamrock service will stop in Rempstone Road, Merley Lane, Sopwith Crescent, Oakley Straight and Oakley Hill. Buses for Wimborne, starting from Oakley Hill, will run at 9.30am, 12.22pm, 2,22pm and 5.22pm whilst buses from Wimborne Square to Merley run at 10.25am, 12.25pm and 5.35pm.
