After a meeting with the Regional Traffic Commissioner bus operator Wilts & Dorset has climbed down and will resume the 3/3A service between Merley and Wimborne.
• The 32A provides a vital link for many elderly residents in Merley who are unable to reach local shops and services without it.
• Wilts & Dorset were due to restart the 32A service after works to Canford Bridge, but refused despite the bridge opening to one line of traffic.
• After dialogue broke down between Wilts & Dorset and Poole Council, neither of whom managed to resolve the issue, the matter was referred to the Regional Traffic Commissioner.
• At a meeting in Bristol with Regional Traffic Commissioner, Wilts & Dorset agreed to resume the service on the 14th of December.
Annette Brooke, MP for Mid Dorset & North Poole commented:
"It has taken far too long, but I am very pleased that this issue has finally been resolved. I contacted all the players in this saga including the Regional Traffic Commissioner on my constituents behalf.'
"Wilts & Dorset appear to have accepted their commitment, which is good news for local residents who can now get back to their normal routine. It is hoped that partnership working between the local Council and the bus company in the interests of local residents will be improved from now on.
"I would have liked to see the Regional Traffic Commissioner act far quicker on this issue however.
