Nick Clegg's Town Hall meeting in Broadstone was his 50th since he became leader of the Lib Dems
250 people packed into Corfe Hills School recently to hear Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats, in a question and answer session.
This was the 50th Town Hall meeting that Nick has held up and down the country since becoming leader of the Liberal Democrats in 2007. It was open to anyone and there were no scripted or prepared questions.
Nick was asked a wide range of questions, from cleaning up MPs' expenses, the EU, taxes and the NHS to more local questions about mobile phone masts. He spoke of how the Liberal Democrats want to give people the chance to sack their MP if they have abused their position, along with cutting the number of MPs' to 500. He also pledged to fight for Civil Liberties and a rethink on how the war in Afghanistan is being fought.
"It was a pleasure to speak to the people of Mid Dorset & North Poole," said Nick after the event, "they asked a great range of questions and obviously care a great deal about these issues. I hope that they all now have a clear idea of the change that the Liberal Democrats offer."
