Following Saturday's tragic death on the A35 Annette Brooke has written to Dorset County Council requesting that they review previous proposals to make the notoriously dangerous road safer for drivers.
The proposals include painting double white lines on the road at the Bloxworth Road section which was the site of Saturday's incident and having a warning sign installed warning drivers of the accident record on the road.
The need for drivers to be aware of the dangers of this road is further highlighted by the two collisions that preceded the roads most recent fatality, all three incidents have occurred in the last month. Such signs have, in the past, been dismissed by the County Council, due to their wish to reduce 'unnecessary signage or roadside clutter'. However with the recent spate of collisions the need for a review of this position is clear.
Annette Brooke believes that road warning signs would help increase driver awareness, with the hope that it would lead to fewer incidents like that witnessed this weekend; "Highlighting the accident record on the road would at least address the point that is usually made to me that most of the accidents are due to driver error. They would promote more careful driving"
