At February 19th Full Council Liberal Democrat Councillors opposed the Conservatives council tax increase of 4.8%. Their alternative fully costed budget proposals, which included a council tax of just 3.9%, was defeated in favour of the much higher 4.8%.
With police and fire precepts added to this, Band D council tax jumps to £1406.43 and Band E to £1718.97.
"This is clearly going to have a big impact on local residents at a time when the recession is really beginning to bite" said Annette Brooke MP, "a failure to freeze Portfolio Holder allowances is also totally unjustified and a slap in the face for Poole residents."
