It has been revealed that 9 officers in the Dorset Police Force have criminal cautions or convictions. None of these officers have been dismissed or required to resign over the 10 offences recorded between them, 4 of which were committed before the officer joined the force.
The news follows Freedom of Information requests sent by the Liberal Democrats to all forces, resulting in the disclosure that there are over 1000 police nationally that have been convicted or cautioned.
Annette Brooke, Lib Dem MP for Mid-Dorset and North Poole said "Whilst I recognise that these results represent a tiny minority of our police force, these figures have shocked residents and come as a great surprise to people. We need assurances that action is taken by the police in the event of these crimes."
