It was announced today that CyberMentors an online adaptation of Beatbullying's bullying prevention programme aimed at tackling cyberbullying has been a resounding success. Over 23,000 people have visited the website for help and advice since its launch at the beginning of the month.
CyberMentors provides trained online mentors to help and guide other young people through problems with bullying, both on and offline.
Annette Brooke MP and Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Children had tabled a Commons Motion alongside the launch, congratulating Beatbullying on the scheme and calling for other MPs to recognise the excellent work of the charity.
Commenting Annette said 'I am delighted that this website has been so resoundingly successful. Beatbullying has worked incredibly hard at ensuring that help is available to those who need it in a way that they can access it. Bullying no longer is confined to inside the school gates and the walk home; with the use of modern technology people who are being bullied are feeling intimidated by it 24 hours a day.
'My Commons Early Day Motion has been signed by members of all parties and it is heartening to see that people from across the political spectrum understand the deeply concerning problems that challenge young people today.'
