Hundreds of people have signed Annette Brooke petition against increased night flights out of Bournemouth airport.

Bournemouth Airport has gone out to public consultation on a Noise Action Plan. This is quite a wide ranging consultation and does not propose more night flights at present but it is clear that there is potential for more night flights in the future.

Annette Brooke, MP for Mid Dorset & North Poole recently met with the Chief Executive of Bournemouth Airport and the Head of Government and Industry Affairs for Manchester Group Regional Airports to discuss the issue. While the expansion of the airport will probably generate more local jobs and be good for the economy, as well as providing an easy and accessible service, local residents are worried about the impact that additional night flights could make.

The local areas that would be most affected by night flights would be Broadstone, Canford Heath, and Bearwood. Noise from night flights is already the most complained about issue according to Bournemouth airports own figures; in May alone last year there were over 30 complaints.

Annette Brooke has been collecting signatures from local residents concerned about this issue. She commented "A number of local people already have cause to complain about the noise from night flights landing at Bournemouth, this obviously has the potential to get worse with more night flights."

"We have had an extremely good response to the petition and signatures continue to come in, especially from Bearwood and Broadstone. I would like to encourage others concerned about this to sign it as well."

If you are a resident of the constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
