October 19, 2009 12:05 PM

A Parliamentary event to celebrate Advice Week (12-18th October 2009), a national week dedicated to raising public awareness of the importance of advice, was attended by Annette Brooke this week.

Annette supports the CABIt is 70 years since the Bureau was started during the onset of the Second World War, and the advice it gives is has changed with the times

People seeking advice from the organisation about debt issues has gone up 27% this year.

"When we started, a person may have lost their home due to being bombed by the Nazis.

"Now they may still be in danger of losing their home because they are unable to pay the mortgage" says Bournemouth Citizens' Advice manager Martin Broad.

Annette Brooke understands the important role that the CAB has. "I often hear from my constituents about the excellent advice that they have received from the CAB and that is why I was happy to attend the recent Parliamentary event to show my support"

If you are a resident of the constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
