Annette Brooke, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole, used the opportunity yesterday during Prime Minister's Questions to raise the issue of park home owners who suffer at the hands of irresponsible site owners.
Annette has consistently campaigned on this issue over the years, meeting campaigners and lobby groups in Parliament and presenting a Ten Minute Rule Bill to the House of Commons in May 2009. By asking Prime Minister David Cameron yesterday to discuss the issues with herself and a small delegation of park home owners, Annette is ensuring that the pressure continues to be placed on the new Government to protect the rights of these often elderly and vulnerable park home owners.
Commenting after Prime Minister's Questions yesterday, Annette said: "I am very pleased once again to have been able to bring this important matter to the attention of parliament and the Prime Minister. It is reassuring to learn that he too understands the plight of constituents who have been treated badly by a small minority of rogue site owners, and I am encouraged that we are all in agreement: the rights of park home owners must be respected by strengthening the rules and regulations surrounding this issue.
"The Prime Minister has informed me that the Minister for Housing is looking into this issue, and I hope that we can meet to discuss the problems facing park home owners. It is essential that we take action to protect park home owners and prevent those rogue site owners giving the park site owners industry a bad name."
