New figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) giving unemployment figures for June 2010 have shown that the number of people claiming unemployment benefits in the constituency of Mid Dorset and North Poole has fallen by 5.6 per cent in the last month.
827 people were registered unemployed in June 2010 compared with 876 people in May 2010, which represents a rate of 2.2 per cent of the working age population in the constituency.
Following the release of these figures, Annette Brooke commented: "Whilst it is pleasing to note that marginally fewer people are out of work in Mid Dorset and North Poole, we cannot become complacent about unemployment in our area.
"The coalition government is committed to tackling unemployment. During this difficult time as we tackle the huge national debt, we must ensure that existing jobs in this area are protected and that young jobseekers and those who are struggling to get back to work receive the support they need."
