Annette Brooke, MP for Mid Dorset & North Poole, has been short listed for MP of the year in the Dods & Scottish Widows Women in Public Life Awards.
The panel of judges, which included Shami Chakrabarti, Director of Liberty, Dame Suzi Leather, Chair of The Charity Commission and Dame Barbara Stocking, Chief Executive of Oxfam,
short listed Annette because of her efforts "tirelessly lending her wisdom, position and huge skill to help hundreds of children's organisations, and by association, many thousands of children."
"Public life would be very much the poorer were it not for Annette Brooke and her absolute determination to use of her public position to do good," they continued.
The Dods and Scottish Widows Women in Public Life Awards celebrate women leaders in society and seek to recognise and promote the work of women in politics, business, the civil service and community leadership. The award ceremony will take place in London on Thursday 23rd September.
Annette Brooke commented "I am surprised but delighted by this news. I am up against some very still competition but it is wonderful just to be recognised in this way."
