- Liberal Democrat representative on Standing Committees: Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Bill, Children and Adoption Bill, Childcare Bill, Children and Young Persons Bill, Apprenticeships, Schools, Children and Learning Bill, Autism Bill and Children, Schools and Families Bill
- Member of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS)
- Chair of All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) for Microfinance and Sure Start.
- Co-Chair of APPG for Breast Cancer.

Professional Career:
- Lecturer and teacher (Economics and Social Sciences) for over 20 years - Open University, and various schools in local area. Most recently Head of Economics - Talbot Heath School
- Gave up teaching to concentrate on politics full time in 1995
- Joint owner of small family business - rocks, minerals and gemstones
